Simple Broccolini

 










Ingredients

1 lb (450 grams) broccolini
2-3 tablespoons water
Salt and pepper, to taste


Directions
  • Wash the broccolini thoroughly and trim the ends if necessary. You can leave the stems long or cut them into shorter, more manageable pieces.
  • Place the broccolini in a single layer in a microwave-safe dish. Add about 2-3 tablespoons of water to the dish. Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix gently to combine the water, salt, and pepper with the broccolini. 
  • Cover the dish with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap. If using plastic wrap, make sure to leave a small vent for the steam to escape. 
  • Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes. Check the broccolini after 3 minutes to see if it's tender. If you prefer softer broccolini, microwave for an additional 1-2 minutes. Be careful when removing the cover, as steam will escape. 
  • Drain any excess water. You can drizzle the broccolini with olive oil to add shine to the presentation. You can also season with salt, pepper, and any optional toppings like red pepper flakes or garlic powder. 
  • Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for a fresh, tangy flavor boost.
